The space introduces a cultural aspect of Qatar, showcasing the connectivity between Qatar and its timeless landscape. The design intent is to create spatial and tectonic experiences that dictate the texture, color, tone, lighting, form, and materiality of the space. Both spaces, the lobby and guest room, speak the same language through usage of similar hues of neutral colors and textures that imitate Qatar’s landscape. Whilst, the use of interior square and rigid lines allows elements of the space to break away from one another, creating positive and negative spaces, in & outs, and intricate thresholds. The design combines opposites to reveal commonality by balancing opposing colors, considering smooth and rough textures, levelling depressions into elevations and turning ordinary into extraordinary. The spaces comfort and aesthetics allow guests to restore themselves in an environment that fosters synergy between user, landscape, and design.
