WHAT?
Women's Homeless Centre
WHERE?
Camperdown, Sydney, Australia
“Homelessness is a problem that goes beyond ‘rooflessness’ and a lack of access to safe shelter."It is having no dialectically structured place, resulting to placelessness.A women’s homeless centre that aims to provide knowledge and the proper skill set to make a living. It is a people driven design, prioritizing a place to serve a purpose that extends beyond housing, driven by human-place bonding, attachment, and place meaning, has power to order and to focus human intentions, experiences, and actions spatially.

Elements of Legibility - re-inforces territoriality & familiarity
Theories & Translations
The central core space is the communal gathering space where all spaces overlook it. Visibility, light, & survelliance allow for orderly, open, & programmatic spaces. This legible language of space acts as an example to educate the users, allowing them to incorporate legibility in their everyday life.

Acoustics provide comfort & less noise distraction, a strong acoustic system is essential.Achieved by the following: - Segregating high noise areas from low noise.
- Walls & partitions: 45 STC rating for acoustic privacy.
- Buffer zones to avoid noise transfer between spaces.
- Absorbing material finishings to alleviate sound disruption
Design Considerations
Color -soft and welcoming colors to give a light-hearted feel that is easy to the eye, with accent pops of color (vibrancy & life). Colors will mimick nature to evoke a sense of calm & tranquility.
Material - Sustainable materials include local such as timber and bricks, reused salvaged & refurbished, rapidly renewable, low-emitting, durable & flexible, live-long, and easy to maintain (clean)
